Sky Lakes Wilderness
A couple weekends ago Bethany and I got out for a 2 night backpacking trip into the Sky Lakes wilderness area. The reason we were able to get out for two nights was because it was labor day. For the non-americans, labor day is our holiday in which we celebrate our workers by forcing half the population to work 2x as many hours to sell as much crap as possible to the other half of the population attempting to dull the pain of their existence by purchasing as much crap as possible in a 3-day period. Ok end rant.
The weather is beginning to turn to fall here but we had pleasant days and cold nights. The cold nights were really a blessing though because we had virtually no mosquitoes in an area that is notorious for very bad mosquito populations. Our dog may have disagreed however - we woke up in the middle of the night to find him shivering down near our feet. This of course meant I had the unforgettable experience of spooning for half the night with the smelly mutt.
The lakes were great - Bethany found some kind of creature looking very much like an axolotl which is a bit odd considering their native habitat is in a single mexican lake.

The image of Bethany looking like she is about to toss her dinner was a reaction to my extremely generous offer of whiskey.
